my story
I feel very lucky to have chosen a creative life, and even more lucky to have surrounded myself with creative people.

The values of family, community, and resilience were instilled in me from an early age, as I navigated embracing my Mexican identity while living in my hometown of Marietta, GA. I grew up in the same house my whole life until I started college in Knoxville to pursue my love for architecture and design.

Growing up, my bedroom would constantly change. I was eager to create new designs, experiment with different layouts, and try to somehow make the space even better. Over time, my obsession became more than rearranging just my bedroom; before I knew it, I was redesigning a bedroom every time I went to a new friend’s house. I was, and still am, deeply addicted to the thrill of creating.

Even before my life as a designer, I expressed a lot of my creativity through music. I played the piano, violin, guitar, and ukulele, and I still love playing them when I can. I strongly believe that my early passion for music has fed the way I practice and respect design.
A musician embraces the repetition and precision required to produce a successful sound. Similarly, a designer trusts in an iterative process, taking time to try, adjust, try again, adjust, and eventually arrive. Both music and design are dedicated to having patience, embracing repetition, and knowing one's audience to then complete a beautiful piece.

Now, I have the incredible opportunity to be fearlessly creative as a design student. Studying interior architecture has introduced me to strong people I now look up to, weird people I call my friends, and quite honestly, it has further introduced me to my own unique passions.

I still have a long way to go, but I cannot wait to continue learning as much as I can about design and explore the world through a special perspective.
